UCI MTB MARATHON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS | Diego Rosa, fourth in the world with Berria Bikes

Diego Rosa delivers a memorable performance in the Dolomites, finishing fourth at the UCI MTB Marathon World Championships just 43 seconds away from the medals, while Debora Piana seals an impressive women’s top-10 finish for the FOL MTB Racing Team.

The most demanding stage in international mountain biking once again put the performance, endurance and determination of the world’s best specialists to the test. During an epic race held in the heart of the Italian Dolomites, Berria Bikes and the FOL MTB Racing Team enjoyed a historic weekend by placing two of their riders among the world’s top ten in their respective categories.

Fiera di Primiero was the epicentre on 12 September 2026 of one of the toughest races of the season: the UCI MTB Marathon World Championships. The course presented a monumental challenge consisting of 95 kilometres and nearly 4,000 metres of accumulated elevation gain through the imposing Alpine valleys.

In the men’s race, Diego Rosa delivered a performance of the highest tactical and physical level. After overcoming the demanding climb to Forcella Calaita around kilometre 43, the rider established himself within the leading group of chasers. As the challenging terrain began to separate the strongest riders, Rosa maintained a solid pace that allowed him to enter the direct battle for the medals alongside Gioele De Cosmo and Jakob Dorigoni after reaching the top of the climb to Bedolé.

Ultimately, Diego Rosa crossed the finish line in a time of 4:37:43, securing an outstanding fourth place in the world, 3:56 behind the winner, Germany’s Andreas Seewald, and just 43 seconds off the podium, completed by De Cosmo and Dorigoni.

Top 10 for Debora Piana in the women’s category

The FOL MTB Racing Team’s presence among the leading finishers was also confirmed in the women’s elite race. Debora Piana, the 2025 Italian XCM Champion, once again demonstrated her consistency and competitiveness at major events by completing the demanding course in a time of 6:02:27, securing a well-deserved tenth place in the world in a race won by Switzerland’s Anna Weinbeer.

The team’s participation in these MTB Marathon World Championships was completed by Stefano Gerbaz, who started the men’s race but was unable to finish due to the extreme difficulty of the course.

This edition of the championships held a particularly emotional significance for the entire organisation. Competing on home soil provided extra motivation on a day when Massimo Debertolis was actively involved in designing the World Championship course, creating a technical, selective route with a true high-mountain character.

This international double top-10 finish represents a genuine sporting milestone for Berria Bikes and its close collaboration with the FOL MTB Racing Team, confirming the performance and reliability of our bicycles on the most demanding terrain in global cycling.
